V for Vendetta (2006) (out of 4 stars) Rate this filmRated: R Directed by: James McTeigue Starring: Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving and Stephen Rea Tagline: Remember, remember the 5th of November. Favorite line: "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." Length: 133 minutes Plot: A masked avenger seeks revenge against a totalitarian government that has taken over Britain in the near future. Review by The Editor (12 reviews): The movie moves at a steady pace, the acting and filming is good, the plot is well thought out and it makes you care about what happens to the characters. Although the special effects are good, the emphasis is on the story. The story borrows a lot from George Orwell's "1984", while adding a lot of original ideas of its own to make a believable, or at least semi-believable, story about how Britain might be turned into a dictatorship. It is a movie that is well worth watching. |
